The unexamined life is not worth living.

I remember the first time that I heard that phrase. And I mean, I couldn't quite tell you

exactly where I was and what I was doing, but I remember the

profound feeling of being recognized in a certain way. In that phrase, encompassing some feelings and ideas that I'd been having for some time

at that point, perhaps most of my life.

And it made me feel validated.

It felt like an incredibly true statement to hear.

And I feel like perhaps I was a little jaded at that time

because I think I was surrounded by people who

weren't particularly interested or perhaps ready to engage in philosophical ideas on a particular level.

And if you're someone who likes to dig deep into a topic or a conversation,

you pick apart things, and you're with people who aren't really in that frame of mind, they can sometimes accuse

you of being over-analytical or perhaps of overthinking. And this is something that always annoyed me, you know, and if you're the same as me,

then you might sympathize with that feeling of being put down for questioning too much. But I think I've always thought of the philosophical process,

although I don't think I will have always called it the philosophical process.
