And of course, helium was discovered on the sun, which is something that my high school science teacher used to relish

telling us in class. You know, those kinds of things where someone loves telling a story so much that they forget,

that they've told it more than once.

This sort of story of the discovery of helium on the sun was one of those for my high school science teacher.

And he used to say it with such was one of those for my high school science teacher.

And he used to say it with such momentous pause and gravitas waiting for us to react.

Assuming that we would have this sort of raucous reaction to the idea that helium could be discovered on the sun, as if we could ever actually get close enough to discover anything

on the sun. And then he'd be able to smile coyly and explain to the class precisely what he meant.

Although that never really happened for him, unfortunately, as we were bored teenagers

in a science lesson and mostly we just remained silent, staring blankly at the front, waiting for the lesson to end.

And that is a shame because that was probably me at that time as well, but in the years after I have come to grow a deep passion and fascination with not only science but space.

And part of my wishes that I could go back and ask my science teacher more questions

about that sort of thing.
