Senator Bob Menendez of New Jersey has expected to begin his second straight re-election under federal investigation.

And Wall Street Journal points out now that another round of federal grand jury subpoenas went out this week,

in connection with the corruption investigation into Democrat Senator Bob Menendez of New Jersey.

Menendez has been under criminal investigation into whether he and his wife improperly took cash and gifts from the owners of ISEG Halal.

That is an edgewater New Jersey Halal meat business.

Menendez and the company owners have denied any wrongdoing, much like how he denied any wrongdoing when he was taking all those flights.

A spokeswoman for Menendez did not respond to an email inquiry.

Who doesn't love a good halal, and that's what's happening right now.

According to the allegations from NBC News, numerous sources said Menendez's wife is friends with the owners.

Menendez, of course, shares the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, which oversees billions of dollars in aid to Egypt.

Lawyers for this group, this company, have denied any wrongdoing and the owners have said they won the contract with Egypt on the merits.

Other firms in the industry, however, have been raising questions. Tracy Tully, Benjamin Weisser and William Rashbaum reported for the New York Times last year the following.

For years, at least four companies in the United States were authorized by the Egyptian government to verify that Halal meat exported for sale to the country's 90 million Muslims had been prepared according to Islamic law.
