Then Jesus said, okay, you want to be perfect.

Go and sell that thou hast and give to the poor.

And thou shalt have treasure in heaven.

Then come and follow me.

In other words, get rid of your reputation,

who you think you are, and all of that, and then come come be with me. But when the young man

heard this saying, he went away, what? Sirefully, because he was rich. He had too much. And if we

read into this text, we understand that this man

didn't really want Jesus for who Jesus was at all. He wanted Jesus because he needed

Jesus to validate who he already thought he was. Does that make sense? He just needed Jesus

to give a stamp of approval on who he thought he was

but jesus picked him apart didn't he basically said okay give up who you think you are

and then come and this is the problem right now believers in 2013 people want want to stamp Jesus on who they think they are.

They want to stamp Jesus on who they want to be. They don't want to change who they want to be.

They don't want to change who they think they are. They want Christ stamped on what they've already done. That way, Christ will have to share the credit

with them. Amen? See, we've been talking about dysfunction and all these things for, man, months.

Well, when dysfunction is born in a person, that person has a reputation, that person tries to uphold

and keep that reputation because he needs the approval of people that person needs people to validate

and approve of them so christ is not enough because christ gets his own glory so they have to get

glory and then stamp christ on that so that they can share the glory with christ. So in order to come to Christ, three things

you got to do. Look at somebody and say, you got to deny yourself. You got to take up your
