And I'm Antonio Dodge. So one of the things that changed my life, it was in 2006, on May 3rd, 2006, my first-born child, Gunner, was came into this world.

And from that day forward, I was a father and it radically altered my existence.

If you're a parent listening or watching right now, you probably remember that moment when your first child was born and or the first child maybe you adopted or you brought a child into your life and the first moment when you realized oh my goodness

for the first time I'm no longer just a child. I'm now a parent in this world. I've got a little creature that depends on me that looks to me for guidance leadership protection.

Like this is a whole different level of responsibility in life than even a day ago.

And it struck me.

I mean, it was a joyful moment.

I love my son and went on to have a second son from previous marriage and then you and I

Antonia have a daughter together, Piper, who's at the time

of this recording roughly around 11 or 12 years old,

she's going to be turning 12 very soon.

So I just want to reflect on that moment

when a transition happens.

Now, Tony, you had a little bit different experience because you and I got together,

you know, before our child was born together, you were a step-parent to my two sons. So you have this almost grafting experience of

parental energy. It wasn't like your own natural-born children or

adoptions. You're just a stepmom. So I think we already have a very different experience of parenting right out of the gate in how we see it I think

From the first moment we had to step into that energy. Yeah, well and and being a step parent is very interesting. Yeah, it's its own topic.

I've read many books on topics. Plural.

Topics, plural. Being a step parent is, it's's all the all the responsibility with none of the privilege in some ways. I mean I guess it's not all of the responsibility but there's a lot that is required of a step-parent.
