Summary
Everyone who watches this has one weakness they are aware of. Something they aren't good at. Something they haven't addressed. Everyone. That is the beginning of the process of self-awareness.
One of the most important things for me when it comes to running a team is making everyone feel safe. Because when people feel safe, they start telling the truth. And that is an enormous upside in running a business. If everyone can be honest with themselves, be truthful about who they actually are versus who they want to be, that is when the magic happens.
This video speaks to all of that, and more. I hope you enjoy it. Let me know in the comments what you think, and would love to hear your story about self-awareness.

| 0:05.8 | That isn't noble. That they're a bad person in. In a second that they know they haven't addressed yet with |

| 0:46.4 | believe the thing that's holding people back is the romantic version of who they think they want to be |
| 0:51.6 | or who they think they are versus who they actually are. Just because it's cool to be a start |
| 0:56.9 | of founder now doesn't mean that's what you need to become. Mark put on a hoodie and the movie came out |
| 1:01.9 | and you know Instagram made a billion dollars after 500 days and everybody decided they were an |
| 1:08.0 | entrepreneur. I fully fully 100,000% with no hedge do not believe that you can teach entrepreneurship. |
| 1:14.5 | I'm a humongous believer that ideas are shit and that executions the game right. We've all got ideas. |
| 1:20.9 | Everybody's got ideas. Do we fucking ideas we all have here? We can probably sit here for the next |
| 1:25.8 | two hours, draw them all out, record them and predict the next 78 great startups over the next nine |
| 1:31.2 | years. And you also have to think about what are you good at. I built a very unsexy business |
| 1:37.6 | in the height of where I was and the game because I was self aware that that was going to be an |
| 1:42.4 | engine for me over 10, 20, 30 years when it could have been a lot sexier to raise 50 million dollars |
| 1:47.1 | and play with 14 ideas I have but I know who I am. You can't just say it. You know when people |
| 1:53.5 | hear that I know you can't say they're hustlers and then I watch because I'm curious and they're |
| 1:58.0 | just not. So you can't just say you want to go up there because if you're going to go there, |
| 2:02.8 | you're going to have to look a lot of shit in the face that you're not going to like. If you do not |
| 2:07.1 | have self-awareness, which is what I do think I have and I think a lot of people don't have it, |
| 2:11.0 | the only way you can gain it is by getting other people to give you the data points. |
