Over a decade ago, a mobile game took the app store by Storm. Yeah, if you remember those sounds, you know what I'm talking about, Angry Birds.

The game was launched in 2009 by Finnish company Rovio, and the idea was pretty simple, right? Use a virtual slingshot to launch angry-looking birds at evil-looking pigs. Who knew that such a random idea would become one of the most beloved mobile games ever?

Turns out Angry Birds is popular, really popular. It even holds the Guinness World Record for its number of mobile downloads over one billion.

And it's created an entire universe of characters and storylines.

2016's The Angry Birds movie made out like a bandit at the box office, garnering over $350 million.

A sequel came out in 2019, and Angry Birds action figures, clothing accessories,

are staples at retailers like Target and Amazon.
