Summary

Today we begin a brand new week of devotionals, creating space every day for God to transform us more and more into his likeness. And in today’s devotional, we’re starting with a broader view, looking at what it means to truly seek transformation. May God do a mighty work in our hearts this week as we make room for his presence every day.

Our Scripture for today comes from Psalm 51:10, and today's worship is Graves into Gardens by Elevation Worship.

As you go about your day today, pay attention to the areas inside your heart and mind that are causing you the most pain, or disturbance. Maybe it’s something robbing your peace, maybe it’s a temptation that constantly overwhelms you. And make sure to bring those areas with you, aware of them and present with them, as we seek transformation together again tomorrow. These times alone with God become more and more powerful, the more we focus our attention on the areas God most wants to heal.

0:30.8	burdened and suffering from both our sins and the fallen nature of the world around us, we are in
0:36.5	desperate need of transformation. We are in desperate need of transformation.
0:38.9	We are in desperate need of help from a God who has the power
0:42.2	not just to clean us up on the outside,
0:45.0	but to transform us at the core of who we are.
0:48.2	But this God doesn't force transformation on us.
0:51.7	He works when we make space for him to do so. If we're going to experience
0:56.3	freedom, joy, and purpose that can only come from the inner working of the Holy Spirit,
1:01.7	we must be those who seek transformation. Psalm 51 10 through 12 says, create in me a clean heart,
1:08.6	O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from
1:13.3	your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
1:19.9	and uphold me with a willing spirit. Here in Psalm 51, David exemplifies the heart of one who seeks
1:26.4	transformation.
1:28.0	He models for us a posture of humility that will lead to powerful encounters with God's
1:33.0	transformational love.
1:35.0	He doesn't sit back and merely live with that which plagues him, but goes to God with
1:40.1	his problems that he might be changed.
1:43.3	David begins, as we all should, in asking for God to do a mighty work in his heart.
