| 0:00.0 | Hello and welcome to SED News. We are your hosts. I'm Gregor Vand. |
| 0:18.5 | I'm Sean Falconer. And as I think a lot of you do know already, this is a slightly different format of |
| 0:23.9 | Software Engineering Daily, where we pick off some of the big tech headlines that you |
| 0:29.2 | might have seen in sort of more mainstream news. |
| 0:31.0 | We're going to dive into a bigger topic in the middle. |
| 0:34.3 | And then we just look at some of our favorites from hacker news towards the end which |
| 0:39.5 | usually ends up in sort of weird and wonderful rabbit hole type projects that developers have been |
| 0:44.4 | working on so as usual we just like to kind of catch up on what we've been doing what has been |
| 0:51.1 | in your sphere sean since we last did SED News last month? |
| 0:56.0 | There's been a lot in the last month. So I moved into a new house, which has been great. |
| 1:00.7 | But while I also moved in a couple weeks ago, I actually have traveled each week of this |
| 1:07.4 | new adventure in this new house. So I was in D.C. And then I was in Seattle for our data streaming world tour last week. |
| 1:13.5 | And then my wife was away this week. |
| 1:14.9 | So we've been here almost three weeks. |
| 1:16.8 | And there's never been a completely full week where everyone as a family has been in the house yet. |
| 1:21.9 | So I'm looking forward for that happening. |
| 1:24.3 | And then Confluent also, the company I work for was officially acquired by IBM about a |
| 1:29.2 | week and a half ago so that's exciting news that's all completed then yeah yeah everything's been |
| 1:34.2 | completed so lots and lots of conversations now going on with those folks over the IBM side |
| 1:39.4 | figuring out how we're going to work together which is exciting lots of stuff happening and then |
| 1:43.3 | you know looking ahead to April my kids are going to be on spring break, which means that everybody's going to be on spring break for vacation. So we have some travel coming up. And then I had some work travel to Cloud Next. And then I also going to India. So lots and lots of stuff happening over the next little while. But what's going on in your |
| 2:01.6 | world? You're in a different location than usual. Yeah, well, I'm in Scotland. So it's where I'm from originally. I try and come over here for a month or two of the year. When I do, I'm up in the far north in the highlands of Scotland. So it's always kind of fun. That's what technology makes possible, you can still do a podcast from all the way up here where there's, I actually looked it out. The town I come to is a population of 80, 8 to 0 people. So. I thought I was from a small place. Yeah, so I didn't actually grow up here, but it's sort of where I've decided is where I come back to now when I come back to Scotland. |
