Adjust the pillow, pull up the covers, and settle your mind on peace and rest.

The end of a long day is here.

It is time to rest from your work and responsibility.

For now, your only job is to focus on peaceful sleep in the presence of the Lord.

Take a deep breath in and release it slowly.

Feel the tension leave your body as you relax every muscle.

Inhale and exhale a few more times, releasing all lingering thoughts to the Lord.

Now, invite the Holy Spirit to be with you as your sleep.

Ask him to cover you with his peace.

Love, joy, and peace are part of who God is.

By his spirit, he releases these fruits into your life as well.

Welcome his presence to be with you and abide in the fruits of his comfort tonight.

Feel the warmth of the covers and the stillness of your surroundings and close you with a sense of calm. Breathe in and let it out.

Tonight, I will tell you a comforting story about the gift of God's favor.

And just in case you're wondering,

God's favor is the undeserved grace that he chooses to give because he loves and delights in us.

So, settle your mind on the gift of God's love and delight over you.
