Summary

To his "fellow servants" Joseph and Oliver the angel John, acting under direction from the Lord, gave power to further the work of the Lord. Similarly today, the Lord gives His "fellow servants"--both women and men--power to accomplish the work He calls them to do. In our study this week we ask the question: what is the power the Lord has given me, and what does He expect me to do with it. In this episode we get a bit personal and focus on the truths we would help our own young daughter understand as she seeks for her own answers to these important questions. Show Notes: Linda K. 0:23.8	and we are excited to be here with you this week studying in sections 12 and 13 of the Doctrine
0:29.8	and Covenants, as well as finishing out those last few verses in Joseph Smith history.
0:36.2	This study this week is one that's been really personal and powerful for us and one that will
0:41.7	probably be ongoing for a little bit. But what we want to focus on is this expanding power
0:48.0	that the Lord is giving to his children to us to help us be or become, as we titled this episode, fellow servants
0:56.9	with our prophetic predecessors, with our brothers and sisters around us.
1:01.8	This is one of many sections in the Doctrine of Covenants that deal with God's power,
1:07.0	his priesthood, that he gives to his children to help them accomplish the work that he has called
1:13.8	them to do. And so we're excited to study what that power looks like for us and how it can
1:21.1	help us accomplish the things that we have been feeling and sensing God wants us to do.
1:28.2	But before we begin, we do need to make a little apology for our sound quality this week.
1:33.4	We are on a little family getaway.
1:36.6	And you know that feeling when you know that you're forgetting something.
1:43.0	And you have in your mind that it's something but you don't
1:44.9	know what it is it took me about halfway through our drive and realized we forgot our microphone
1:49.8	we tried to record before but it didn't happen um so here we are we didn't forget a child yes that's very
1:57.1	true we haven't done that yet i'm sure it might happen at some point.
2:03.3	But anyway, we're going to do our best to get it edited so that you don't notice too much.
2:07.6	But forgive us for that. And here we go, getting excited about what we have to discuss today.
