Hello, everyone, and welcome to the Girls' Camp podcast.

I'm your host, Haley Rawl, and this is my Super Bowl, to overuse a phrase.

This is my Roman Empire, a new season of the

Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. We just got season four of this show, which has given us much to

discuss and much to unpack. You already know, if you're not new here, that this show has

quite a hold on me. And I was actually talking to my husband Bentley and I was like, why do I get so

obsessed with this show? Then I was like, well, I am an ex-Morman wife. I am the same age as these

women in the same stage of life in a lot of ways. And,

you know, I'm ex-Morman, which some of them are. But I feel like I am unpacking or have

unpacked somewhat similar things to what these women and these men, I guess, which we will talk

about, are currently unpacking. The things that

they're currently going through, I can relate in a lot of ways, or if I can't directly relate,

I'm like, hmm, this seems familiar. There is a lot of Mormonism, a lot of Mormon undertones,

Mormon, Utah culture undertones. And that's also my favorite thing to do is talk about

Mormonism and its influence on culture and its influence on people, whether they are still in it

or out of it or somewhere in between, and particularly for this age demographic and for women.

The first thing we unfortunately do need to discuss is the

dad talk takeover of this show. This has already been pointed out and rightfully so. A lot of the

commentary I'm seeing on this season already is people saying, why is dad talk on my screen, get dad talk off my

screen? Isn't this show supposed to be about mom talk? Why are we focusing so much on dad talk? Right out of the

gate, we have Jordan, who is Jesse's wife, who is the self-proclaimed leader of Dad Talk.
