Welcome to the Before Breakfast podcast.

Today's tip is to give a friend a podcast. Any podcast that you

enjoy makes a free and easy gift for a friend who would enjoy the show too. Of course, we all share

recommendations of things we like with friends, family, and colleagues, and that includes podcasts.

But actually thinking of giving podcasts

as gifts and as gifts you'd like to start giving has a few upsides. First, you start listening to

podcasts more mindful because you're actively thinking about who else might enjoy them. And when you give someone a podcast, that increases

the chances that you'll have a discussion with the person about the podcast. It's a great way to connect.

Indeed, I'd argue that connecting with somebody about an idea is a better gift in many ways than

a tie or a sweater or other such things that people

tend to give us presents and which gets stuffed in the closet. Plus, it's cheaper too.

There are a few ways to go about giving a podcast to someone. Most podcast players include a feature

to share a podcast episode, which automatically

generates a text or an email to send the episode to a friend. In Apple Podcasts, just tap on

the circle with the three dots to see this option. It's nice to include a personal gift

note indicating what made you think of the recipient and why you think the person

will like it. You might say, hey, Jane, this episode of How to Money made me think of you.

The hosts also have a rule that they sell a bike every time they buy a new one. Or maybe you send a

podcast episode with Life Advice to a new graduate with a note about which gems worked best for you.
