And we welcome in Chris Lee, who does a fantastic job with Vandy 247. And southeastern 16 is what kind of will focus in on today. Chris, you and I go way back, and I really appreciate a few moments. Today, it's a fun time covering college baseball. Yeah, I've appreciated your friendship over the years and looking forward to doing this. You guys have been wide open. I know you shared with me in pre-production, the amount of hours that you guys have put in.

Before we get to the independent regionals, what did you kind of take away from this past weekend

0:28.3

and really the last couple of weekends dating back to the SEC tournament?

0:32.9

I think the SEC was really good.

0:34.8

There's been some talk that the league was down.

0:36.7

And like the last year, the league became a lightning ride for a lot of stuff with getting two teams to Omaha. I was

0:43.1

shocked. I thought Brad, I thought last year was one of the best years of SEC baseball I ever

0:48.1

remember. Now, the SEC had two of the final four in the champion, but I only think getting

0:53.2

two in the, you know, in Omaha

0:56.1

was a disappointment. Now, of course, the league is going to get at least two in this year,

1:00.9

and maybe as many as five. But, I mean, they had, what, 10 teams in the, at least the elimination

1:07.3

game, you know, the championship game of a regional out of, you know, whatever, I guess that would have been 32. I think they had, what, you know, 10 of the last 21 playing at one point. I just think it spoke to the strength of the league. Now, some of that is a little bit of flukechish. I don't know if you play the Atlanta regional again. Oklahoma wins it. But I think if you play the Tallahassee regional again, Florida probably comes out of it.

1:29.6

So probably balanced out.

1:30.9

But I thought it showed that the league is really, really strong.

1:35.0

When you look at the SEC, I want to touch on this briefly because of, you know,

1:40.9

as well as you and your crew do at Vandy 247, what happened this year with Vanderbilt baseball and with Coach Corbyn? It just really felt like just things didn't really come together. Yeah, I think the talents dropped off for a while. I mean, you used to look up at Vanderbilt and it would be a Carson, former, and a Walker Bueller, or it would be a, you know, rocker and lighter as of, what, five years ago.

2:02.6

And now you look back, and they've had some good guys. And last year the pitching was good. But J.D. Thompson, as good as he was, was not in the stratistry of those guys. So I think a lot of it's been a little bit of a talent drop off. I think this year, a lot of it was injuries. you had Austin Nye who pitched 10 innings this year

2:17.8

did not give up a run.

2:19.4

It's supposed to be their next first round arm.

2:21.3

He got hurt in February, didn't play again, should be back next year. They had, oh, the kid, Matthew Shory, who's a local kid, who really had stepped things up, was supposed to be one of their weekend starters. I think he threw six innings all year. All those came in May. Looked good when he threw them, but that was probably

2:38.7

two-thirds of their rotation that they didn't have for over 90% of the year. I think that was

2:44.7

something that hurt them that made Connor Finnell pitch out of a role. He was kind of a Kevin
