Just in time for summer, Seattle Public School started a new cell phone policy.

The goal is to increase student focus.

We'll get into what new research says about what school cell phone bans can actually change for students in a minute.

But first, let's get you caught up.

You've likely already done your taxes, but if you let it slide this year,

you're in luck. The IRS has yet again extended the tax filing deadline for people in King,

Pierce, Snohomish, and several other counties. Due to December's flooding, the IRS initially pushed back the deadline to May 1st. Now you have until August 5th to wrap up your taxes. Don't

worry about applying for that extension. The IRS already knows and says it will automatically

identify taxpayers in need. Speaking of deadlines, the King County Regional Homelessness Authority has until this Friday

to provide a written response to a scathing audit that found the agency could not account for

$13 million in public funds. Meanwhile, the county council has imposed another deadline.

By August 1st, County Executive Germai Zahalai will need to provide the council with a comprehensive report and recommendation on whether the regional homelessness authority should continue.
