I'm Emanuel Vaughn Lee, host of this show, an executive editor of Emergence Magazine,

located on the unseated ancestral lands of the Coast Miwok people in present-day, Marine County.

Each week, we feature interviews, stories, poetry, and author-narrated essays, exploring the threads connecting ecology, culture, and spirituality.

On November 1st, I was at the Tate Modern in London to celebrate the launch of our latest print edition.

Our sixth issue focuses on the seasons,

and the many ways that, despite fluctuating and evolving,

they continue to invite us to participate in Earth's cycles of creation, renewal, growth, decay, and death.

In front of an audience of our readers at the Tate's Star Cinema, I had a lovely conversation

with Seasons contributors Melanie Challenger, Sam Lee, Dara McAnulty, and Cary Neidorté about the

volumes frame and the themes of Requiem invitation and celebration that it moves through.

While each spoke foremost of the theme their story sits within,

it became clear how much they overlap,

revealing the paradoxes and complexity of this moment,

and how we might learn to be present with the Requiem,

invitation, and celebration at this season simultaneously offer us.

We talked about each of the contributors' own relationship with the seasons

and how this shaped their stories.

The biological reality that we are, and always will be, completely reliant on the seasons.

How joy has a role to play as the seasons only become more unstable.

And how holding the seasons in our attention can be a radical form of love for the earth.
