Hi I'm Elizabeth Day from How to Fail and I'd like to introduce you to Bista Village.

I would highly recommend planning a day out at Bista Village.

The blind priest leurches along the rough sandy path through the Yorkshire countryside, jabbing the ground ahead of him with his walking staff.

He's in a hurry and out of breath.

From time to time he slips on the loose trail or stumbles over a tree root.

No matter. He keeps going.

The young novice who's supposed to be guiding him

tries to keep hold of his elbow,

but the path is steep and overgrown with brambles. Nettles sting his bare legs, making him yelp.

Yet the terrain isn't the hardest thing.

What makes this so difficult is the eagerness the The novice has known this blind priest a long time and he's never seen him move at more than a snail's pace.

Now though he's charging along and though he can't see it it's like he can sense their

destination ahead. At the top of the hill where the path ends there's a dark patch on the ground.

And here, as if by instinct, the priest finally stops. He blinks blindly around him, then he drops to his knees and in panting urgent breath begins to pray.

Please God, he says, please, Thomas, grant me back my sight.
