Hi proof listeners, Bridget here, and I'm recording this message from my home.

And I know that many of you are at home with your families too right now.

These sure are unsettling and uncertain times, but our team has been working on season

four of proof for months now since well before this whole pandemic began, and we're going

to bring you those stories just as planned. Our mission at Proof has always been

to bring you the stories that surprise and delight you or even change the way that you

think about food. We hope that while many of you are at home with your loved ones

over these coming weeks,

that these stories can offer some much needed reprieve from all of that uncertainty outside.

So with that, here's a taste of what's coming up in season four.

We break bread with the ancient Egyptians. The way it was coming across on Twitter was,

I have ancient yeast and I thought,

baked me bread and he as soon as I walked on the door he hands me you know a piece of

toast he's like oh my god taste this We find out what nuclear radiation and plant breeding have in common.

There was a central tower through which a piece of radioactive cobalt

could be raised. In some ways you might think of it as

kind of showering radiation on a field of crops growing in concentric circles

around the tower. We follow a spring roll on a journey from Vietnam to Senegal to New York City.

It's really amazing how food survives, you know.
