On Sunday, August 15, 2010, police were alerted to a situation on the cliffs of beachy head.

Striking in their appearance and reaching over 500 feet from sea level, the short cliffs

located on the coastline of East Sussex have a darker side.

It is a well-known suicide spot, and it is not uncommon for foot patrols known as the

beachy head chaplaincy team to provide intervention and support.

Both the rescue chaplain and police negotiator spoke to a 56-year-old woman for three hours,

desperately trying to persuade her to leave the cliff edge before she was escorted to safety.

Around 1pm, the authorities had been alerted by a family member that the individual Georgina

Chalan, or Sally as she was more commonly known, a travel there to take her own life.

Sally's car was found close by.

Around the same time, several police officers attended the five bedroom home she had previously

shared with her husband in Claygate Surrey, just over 70 miles north.

Quiet, affluent and very private, Ruxley Ridge looks just like any well-to-do suburban street

in Surrey, but it's now the centre of a major investigation after police found a body at this

house yesterday afternoon. Ronnie Wood lives here just up the road, but neighbours today have spoken

of their shock. I suppose you would class it as a reasonably affluent area, but many of us are

retired, but I'm absolutely amazed at something like this would happen on a road like this.
