A spring dawn breaks over London.

For a moment, the night's silence is broken only by the crowing of a few cockrels

and the lap of the river Thames against its banks.

But as the day's first light creeps over the city's ancient walls,

there's another sound.

The peal. sound. The peel of a single church bell. It chimes, slow and insistent, echoing over the cramped rooftops. But it doesn't ring alone for long.

Soon, somewhere else in the city,

another church bell starts ringing.

Then another.
