Well, hi there's Steve. The Waterville Police Chief says they're using every resource possible to find this young girl.

At one point today, there were 75 officers searching by land, water, and air, hoping to find this toddler alive.

That someone came in that back door, snuck in her bedroom, took her, vanished in the middle of the night, and none of those three adults heard or saw anything.

We think they

know more than they're telling us. You can't tell me as a father. You don't know. You don't

know where your child is? We still have that hope and are working to locate her to bring her home.

On the search for Ayla Reynolds is now on its 19th day. More than six weeks, nine and a half months now.

Three years ago today. Nearly six years, the largest investigation in main state history.

Elizabeth Smart, Polly Class was taken from her bedroom. We assume that it does happen. So much of what we value, individually and collectively,

centers around the degree to which we value human life.

In a cosmic and philosophical way, one life is no more or less important than another.

But in society, we do make distinctions between human lives. We consider them differently.

It's not that certain lives are considered more sacred, more that certain deaths are considered more tragic. We punish all who

take human life, but we punish the taking of some lives more severely, because their loss

violates our ethos and our sense of fairness. Our justice system is still, in theory, victim-centered.

It's constructed to seek retribution, first and foremost.

Its purpose is to impose punishment.

But our justice system is also, for the rest of us.

It's an assurance, if not insurance, that if, God forbid, something like that happened to us

or someone we care about,

we would benefit from the system as well.

Systems are what we use to organize our morality.
