Ayla Reynolds was reported missing in December 2011.

Alicia, along with her mother and Justin's mother, Phoebe DePetro,

Phoebe and Alicia told the news media about six months ago that they believe that

Ayla Reynolds is still alive somewhere, even seven years later.

We don't care what any probate judge says. We know that she was taken from the home that night,

Phoebe said, adding that Trista was greedy for having Ayla declared dead,

and the justice will never be served until Ayla is found.

And how this case has affected those families, the Reynolds family and the DePetros,

has been the legacy of what happened on that one night in 2011 on down through the years since,

and it highlights a poignant sadness of this whole case.

It's a tragedy within a tragedy.

Ela Reynolds could have been a good thing, a great thing for both of these families. She could have made

these people better people. You think about Justin DePetro, he'd never shown much interest in

being Ayla's father throughout her short life. She'd only been to visit with him a couple of times,

and yet Justin wanted to take care of Ayla during those few weeks. And Ayla's stay with Justin might have

done something to make him realize what it was to be a father, what it was to be Ayla's father.

And had Ayla lived, she certainly would have made her mother Trista a better person. She was

already making Trista a better mom. It was already making Trista a better mom.

It was the cruelest possible irony, that it was while Trista was in rehab for her substance abuse

problem, a rehab that she entered so that she could be a better mother to Ayla, that that's when
