Hey everybody welcome back to Cold Case Murder Mysteries. I'm your host

Ryan Kraus coming at you once again with this month's feature episode

in which we'll be taking a look at the mysterious deaths that occurred at the Sprekel's

Mansion in Coronado, California back in 2011. On July 11th of that year, six-year-old Max Schachnay, son of pharmaceutical

magnet Jonah Schachnay, and his ex-wife, Dina, took a horrific fall over a staircase railing

while supposedly playing on the second floor of the home.

Two days later, just prior to 7 a.m.

Jonah's brother Adam Shacknay, who had flown in to offer support in the wake of learning about the serious injuries Max sustained,

finds Rebecca Zahow, Jonah's 32-year-old girlfriend,

dead at the mansion of an apparent suicide.

Then, on July 16th, Max succumbs to his injuries.

So how's family maintains her death was clearly murder and that Rebecca was not depressed and

suicidal despite the fact that Max had fallen while under her care.

On the other hand, the police assert that a thorough investigation has rendered the proper evidentiary conclusion,

which is that Rebecca Zahal took her own life.

Now, what makes these incidents so mysterious is that

to our knowledge there are no witnesses to what happened.

Unless you think either party was murdered. There are no witnesses to what happened.

If that's the truth, then there's an enormous web of lies lurking in the dark beneath

the surface of this case, whether both were murdered or even just

one.
