On Friday, April 5, 2024, news broke that Sean ‘Puffy’ Combs and his son Christian were sued in Los Angeles. This suit was referenced in Lil Rod’s lawsuit, with a note that a suit would be forthcoming. The suit's allegations stem from incidents on the Holiday Yacht trip that are also detailed in Lil’ Rod’s suit. Unsurprisingly, this plaintiff and Lil’ Rod have the same attorney, currently under fire in New York Federal court. The attorneys for UMG brought to the court's attention a court order in an unrelated case brought by Attorney Blackburn wherein the court ordered him referred to the discipline committee of the federal court. In a comment given to the media, attorney Blackburn states that the two things have nothing to do with the other. One thing is clear: these cases aren’t slowing down.

0:15.6 | Welcome back to the Emily show. After last week's podcast, I thought we would be moving on from all things Sean Puffy Combs. But then news broke on Friday, April 4th that his son was being sued. And once I got my hands on that lawsuit, I knew there was stuff that we needed to talk about. |
0:21.2 | Plus, there's quite a lot of legal filings going on in the |
0:26.8 | Little Rod lawsuit that I covered last week on the Emily show and we need to cover that |
0:32.2 | too because the plaintiff's lawyer has |
0:34.7 | been sent to the grievance committee in a filing by another judge in a case with |
0:40.7 | this same plaintiff's attorney and that has now been filed in the |
0:44.7 | little rod suit and there are articles covering what's going on all of the |
0:50.4 | lawyers are making statements to the media |
0:52.9 | and because that order by the court |
0:56.4 | talks about these lawsuits being filed, |
0:59.2 | but in the order, the federal judge said, |
1:02.2 | quote, a reasonable inference from Blackburn's behavior, and that is the defense attorney, is that he inappropriately filed cases in federal court to garner media attention, embarrass defendants with salacious allegations, |
1:15.8 | and pressure defendants to settle quickly. |
1:18.0 | Indeed, his submissions to this court have been rife with disturbing allegations against defendants and defense counsel. |
1:24.9 | So we need to have a conversation about how that is going to play in to the course of litigation |
1:32.3 | in the civil litigation. |
1:34.8 | Of course that is not going to be an issue |
1:39.5 | with regard to any potential criminal investigations because this attorney and his filings in the civil cases do not undo things that are factual and found in the criminal allegations if we see criminal charges filed but there is much to talk |
1:56.2 | about and we should just get into it. |
1:57.6 | Welcome to the Emily show I'm Emily D Baker the internet's go-to legal analyst and big fan of the Cursey Awards. |
2:04.8 | I've been a licensed attorney for over 17 years. |
