Wisdom literature encourages readers to internalize God’s values, making decisions that promote flourishing for themselves and others. Meditation literature invites readers to slow down, immerse themselves in Scripture, and allow its truths to permeate us to the extent that they transform how we interact with others.

1:06.4	We are working through the Bible Project Seven Pillars for how to read scripture or kind of a hermeneutic, a way of reading these ancient and beautiful texts.

1:13.5	Next on our list, number five is wisdom literature.
1:17.7	The Bible invites its readers to not simply learn new ideas,
1:21.6	but to go on a journey of character transformation that leads to wise living.
1:26.8	This sounds like we're getting into territory I love, so tell us more.
1:33.1	I think it comes out of a slow realization for me after sitting with scripture for a lot of years
1:40.6	that when I was introduced to wisdom literature as a part of the Bible,
1:47.3	attached to certain books, proverbs, the book of Job, Ecclesiastes.
1:55.7	So this is different.
1:58.2	And for those listening, there's a genre or a collection of writings in the Bible that are
2:02.2	called the Hebrew wisdom literature.
2:04.2	That's what I'm saying, right?
2:04.8	That is.
2:06.3	That is one way of thinking about it.
