In the Catalina foothills, just outside of Tucson, Arizona, 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie lives alone.

But she's not alone. She has family that lives nearby.

Now Nancy's not very mobile physically, but mentally she is sharp as attack.

Nancy's daughter is Savannah Guthrie, host of the Today Show and former

court TV correspondent. On Saturday, January 31st, Nancy was dropped off by family members

at about 9.30 at night at her home. Between that time and the Sunday morning church service

happened inside her home. Nancy's family was first alerted by folks at the church when Nancy

didn't show up. That alone was a reason to worry. Then when the family went to Nancy's house,

they couldn't find her. By 11 a.m. they called police.

And almost immediately, it was clear to investigators that a crime had been committed, that

Nancy had been taken forcefully from her home. It began as a missing person search, and investigators

worked quickly. They worked thoroughly, but found no signs of Nancy.

And the homicide squad was brought in to work the case.
