week history was made this week by Joe Biden in his selection of his vice

presidential running mate and we're going to get into that with someone who

understands and appreciates what history is because she is part of Maryland

history and American history coming from a long-standing political family in

the great city of Baltimore she is the former mayor the 49th mayor of that

wonderful city Stephanie Rawlings Blake Secretary the Democratic National

Committee and was the first African-American woman to hold the post a

president of the US conference of mayors she was given the first citizen

award by the Maryland State Senate named Maryland's top 100 women and in

2007 and 2011 by the Maryland Daily Record and she got that particular

award and named Shirley Chisholm Memorial Award trailblazer by the National

Congress of Black Women like I said she's a trailblazer and a historymaker

herself mayor Rawlings Blake welcome to the podcast it is my pleasure to be here

with you well you know it's great given everything that's been going on this

week and and the history that was made I kind of went back in time a little bit to

when I got elected Lieutenant Governor Maryland and of course made a little

history there is the first African-American elected statewide and it was all it was
