Much like yesterday, I am going to reference Rich Rebar's article that he put out on Sharp Football that was

league-wide offensive trends is what he dug into. Today I want to talk tight ends. And it's been

all the talk nationally in, you know, the tightend trend is sweeping the nation.

And as you guys know, as Steelers fans, heavy tight-end usage and heavy tight-end personnel groupings were an Arthur Smith thing, absent of the McVeigh, you know, tight-end trend.

First off, a big reason this is happening is the passion of the league

is eliminate explosives. We talk about that all the time. You cannot have explosives and win in this

league. So you're playing two high shells. So offenses are putting more big people in the league

to make you bring people into the box.

I mean, this is the nuts and bolts of it.

But I keep bringing in Darnell Washington types.

Maybe it'll get you out of a too high shell or cover four or whatever.

And then I can maybe create explosives over the top.

There's a lot more to it than that.

But you understand what the logic is.

So, Sean McVeigh, who many, many people copy, rightfully so.

I think he's the best head coach in the league and one of the best offensive minds that

have ever lived, has taken this to a new level with his tight end usage.
