The Supreme Court on Wednesday said it would decide whether former President Donald Trump is entitled to broad immunity from prosecution for acts allegedly committed while he was in office.

This is teeing up another blockbuster election year showdown that could have major ramifications for the federal criminal cases against him.

The unsigned order from the High Court granted special counsel Jack

Smith's request for the justices to decide the issue. The justices are set to decide the question

quote, whether and if so, to what extent does a former president enjoy presidential immunity

from criminal prosecution for conduct alleged to involve official acts during his tenure in

office. The court will hear arguments

in the case during the week of April 22nd. Its order indicates that proceedings in the case will
