We start with the key takeaways of what went down at the Supreme Court.

Six conservative justices signaled yesterday that they're ready to back President Donald Trump's push to effectively take over independent agencies within the federal government.

At the center of the case is Trump's decision in March to fire Rebecca Kelly slaughter

from the Federal Trade Commission.

That's despite a law requiring presidents to show cause before booting the leaders of agencies

run by multi-member boards.

And this case goes way beyond the FTC, as CNN's Joan Biscupik explains.

The justices appeared ready to elect President Trump fire officials at about two dozen other

agencies, such as the National Labor Relations Board and the Federal Election Commission.

But Donald Trump's lawyer was going even further with a theory that would give the

president control over much more. And the question now is how much further this court will let

Donald Trump go at the expense of Congress and the broader separation of powers.
