Well, in short, I was prohibited from boarding my flight to Istanbul and onto St. Petersburg

by the Customs at Board Patrol, who claimed to be acting on behalf of the U.S. Department of State.

They seized my passport without explanation and therefore denied me the ability to leave. This was a deliberate ambush,

and what I mean by that is this was not a spontaneous, you know, administrative thing.
