Hello everybody welcome to a special interview between me and Paul Sun Hong Lee

one the now this is you know this name you just don't know that you know this name or maybe you do and I'm talking to the I'm preaching to the choir here but he won the Canadian screen award for best lead actor for his role in the comedy series Kim's convenience

You may have seen it on Netflix. I know I just finished my second

binge. Most recently you've seen him is Captain Carson Tiva in the

Mandalorian on Disney Plus. We are so excited to have you here. Welcome to the show Paul. How are you?

I'm very well thanks. Thanks for having me.

Well it's a thrill to have you. We've had a great deal of anticipation around my community leading up to this interview.

Your stint on the Mandalorian alone is enough to freak out everybody I work with.

So we're very excited to have you here and speaking of which it goes a little

deeper for me and I wanted to kind of start off our conversation this way

there are so many things about Kim's convenience and your character that resonate with me and my family and people

I know.

I grew up with three adopted Korean siblings, one of which my brother, Matt, who is, came when he was a little bit older.

So there's still a lot of sort of culture there that comes from Korea. He's also married to a wonderful

Korean woman and they have a great family and when I go to their house I

experience a certain kind of culture I don't get every other day and I feel some of that when I watch Kim's convenience and it feels authentic to me

mostly your interactions with the family and that sort of thing.

And I mean, right down to my brother's got the accent that you use on the show,

like it's that close.

And so that culture is so familiar to me also my wife

is named Kim's we have a lot jokes around the house about you know things are at

her convenience and you know that's a real hoot of course and of course we're all huge Star Wars nerds and Mando thing and all that we got to talk about that but first of all are people thrown off that you that this is your voice here without that accent versus what Mr. Kim is on the show?
