Hi, everyone. Welcome to Scoop, where you get the Scoop on this week's news. My name is Jenna,

and this is smarter news. And I'm so glad you're here as we kick off another week of a lot of headlines

to look through and get you caught up, get you ready, get you prep so that you can relax a little bit. Hopefully the news is one less thing to really worry about because we have some ideas of what the big stories are this week. We're going to go through them. And then, of course, there's always the unknown. We don't know what breaking news we might get. So we're going to control what we can and we're going to go over what we can and understand there's always that element of surprise in the story of our lives, whether we're talking about the news or we're talking about things that happened to us. I hope you're getting into the kind of the summer groove. I know there's some kids that are still in school and probably nearing the end of that. There are those like my kids that have been out for a couple weeks and now suddenly that sheen of summer is sort of wearing off and we're

wondering how many different artsy crafts can we possibly do in one week's time. I have full

confession. I did go to Target this week, did go this weekend. I was looking for all the things.

I'm like, how many pipe cleaners, how many sparkly, what can I do? Ours, I will invest in.

Art and books, I will invest in. The kids right now, I'll just mention this. I love your thoughts on

this. You know, obviously there's this whole movement to keep children off the social media

until they're out

of high school, keep them off their phones until much later in their teenage years.

And my husband and I have wondered what the right thing is to do.

But it's pretty clear for our kids because my nine-year-old boy turns into a maniac if he

is on a device of any sort, just full disclosure,

which makes me wonder if that happens to me, but that's what I call normal now because I'm

on my device all the time. So it's not something that's really conducive or it creates more

problems than it, then obviously it's worth at times.

So that kind of keeps us away from it.

But I did let them use an iPad on this trip.

And it was really helpful.

It's very helpful.

We do allow them when they're on a plane to use an iPad.

And thank goodness.
