your Washington headlines of the day. Number one,

shutdown showdown time in the Senate. Number two, Musk is the Dem's new boogeyman. And number three,

advancing with AI cybersecurity. All right, Jake, let's get to it. We are leading punchful news

AM with a look at what is happening in the Senate and how the Senate's

shutdown, showdown could play out. Of course, everybody here knows this, but the federal government

shuts down Friday at midnight. And we've hit some major bumps. On Wednesday afternoon,

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer declared that Republicans do not have the votes to clear a procedural hurdle and pass the House GOP drafted CR.

That measure would fund the federal government through September 30th.

Schumer instead wrapped his arms around Democrats proposed short-term CR running through mid-April.

However, of course, that isn't really an option.

Jake, this is getting a little bit further along that I think a lot of people maybe thought

that Dems would kind of cave, but there seems to be some real unity among the Democratic

caucus in the Senate that even some of the people that were expected to potentially vote for cloture or vote for the final bill are now saying they're hard nose.
