And Victor Davis Hanson, senior fellow at the Hoover Institute. His focus is classics

in military history, but these are two smart, cosmopolitan guys. First few things I want

to get to, I'm going to talk about American civilization at risk today. I want to take

one piece of this because I think I know this stuff and I expect I know it better than

either of our guests. A few people know it better than I do, but not many. And that's the

drug issue. I want to talk particularly about fentanyl, the use of fentanyl and the fatalities

associated with fentanyl continue to grow. This is a terrible, terrible thing. We blindly

watch poisoning deaths becoming the single greatest, the number one cause of death among

our young adult population. Let's focus on that. The single greatest cause of death among

young people. By the way, if you can keep people off drugs off alcohol as well, but let's

just talk about drugs until the age of 21, their odds of staying off for the rest of their

lives are very good. Getting young people to 21 is a big deal. I always thought cloud

about writing a book, Frank Sethleeps and I were thinking about writing a book together

called Getting to 21, almost all drug addiction begins with youth initiation and almost all

drug use and addiction begins with marijuana. Before I get into this dark side, let me

just say we can do something about this. We have in the past in 1979, Claude, we hit

the high water mark of drug use in this country. 14.1% of the population were regular drug users.
