Summary

Episode 23: Going to Extreme to Prove a Point: Two articles about Peter Schiff:

* MarketWatch

- writer refused to address corrections before going to print except for my official title
- The point of my forecasts is to help people avoid problems ahead of time
- I did not call for a stock market crash; I predicted QE4
- The Fed can prevent a Dollar Crisis
- I said hyperinflation is unlikely, but a possibility

* New Republic

- Writer quotes selectively from a Reason article to prove his own spin
- Points to the CPI to refute real inflation
- The price of a Big Mac mirrored the CPI until 2002
- Now price of Big Mac rises 2x as fast as CPI
- This illustrates how the government measures inflation Our Sponsors: * Check out Chilipad and use my code sleep.me/GOLD for a great deal: https://sleep.me * Check out DBJourney and use my code Schiff15 for a great deal: https://dbjourney.com * Check out Fast Growing Trees and use my code GOLD for a great deal: https://www.fast-growing-trees.com * Check out Plaud AI and use my code GOLD for a great deal: https://plaud.ai * Check out Quince and use my code quince.com/gold for a great deal: https://www.quince.com * Check out TruDiagnostic and use my code GOLD20 for a great deal: https://www.trudiagnostic.com Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

I want to talk about a couple of articles that were written about me that both came out

0:14.0

yesterday.

0:15.4

One of them was in Market Watch.

0:17.8

It was a very prominent story on their website.

0:20.0

It even got picked up by the New York Post this morning.

0:24.0

And the other one was an article that was in the New Republic.

0:29.3

Now the New Republic article that was written by a guy named Danny Vinick, I never actually

0:33.8

spoke to Danny Bittik.

0:35.0

So he just wrote this article on his own.

0:38.3

But the Market Watch article, in Nora Mohab Doha, I believe is how to pronounce her name,

0:46.6

I spoke with her at length.

0:48.0

So I actually spoke to her and she wrote the article based on our conversation.

0:52.2

Or at least she wants people to believe it was based on our conversation.

0:55.6

But what reporters often do is they don't write what you say, but they write what they

1:01.0

want you to say.

1:02.3

Or they twist your words or they take something out of context because what they really want

1:07.6

is they want to prove their own agenda.

1:09.8

And so they can do that by erecting a straw man to tear down instead of your actual argument.

1:15.4

Now in the case of the New Republic article, the guy's not twisting my words because he

1:20.7

didn't talk to me.

1:21.7

He is quoting selectively from an article that he read in reason that I wrote.
