You'll hear what Jay Gruden said to me a few weeks ago, if you remember, specifically

about that comment.

But we opened the show with the news that Washington has used the franchise tag on Brandon

Sheriff once again.

And then Doc Walker will be my guest after that.

So Washington uses a second straight franchise tag on Brandon Sheriff, 15 plus million last year,

18 plus million this year.

Brandon Sheriff becomes the highest paid guard in the league by about $3 million over Brandon Sheriff's 20-20 deal of $15 million.

Brandon Sheriff, by getting a second consecutive tag, now has very little incentive, in my view, to strike a long-term

deal with the team. More importantly, for me, it means that more likely than not, Brandon

Sheriff will play 2021 in Washington for $18 million and then leave via unrestricted free agency,

because the team will not be able to sign him to a third

tag or to tag him for a third time. It's way too cost prohibitive. It's too cost prohibitive now.

My opinion on this hasn't changed. I would not have tagged Brandon Sheriff. I would have tried to

work out a long-term deal somewhere in the
