My family is from the rural townships of Ayrshire in western Scotland.

My grandfather moved his family to Ontario, Canada, in the mid-1960s when my mother was only a baby.

I was born and raised here, and my mother often took my brother and me to visit our family overseas,

to enjoy the ancient landscapes and rugged

coastlines of our ancestral lands that our family had been immersed in for centuries, if not

millennia. I fell in love with the whole thing, the folklore, the old traditions, the cultural

differences, and the connection to familial history that we lacked back home.

Something that perhaps North America can be lacking in some aspects of modern life.
