Someone said to me recently that she's nervous or let's just say

uncomfortable when it comes to proactively making new friends, right?

Making new friends as an adult.

We know that, you know, as we are adults, we don't have those same kind of social structures

like high school or college or even a typical office environment that just naturally leans

into making friends because hey we're all in the same place. We have a lot in common.

And increasingly now with remote work,

more and more people living alone.

We live in a loneliness epidemic, right?

This is just facts, the research is very clear on this, it can be hard or it can feel like,

I don't want to impose, I don't want to be weird, I don't want to be awkward,

when it comes to making friends. Now making friends as an adult

is something that I love to do. I moved around a lot as a kid. I've lived in five

countries now. I think that making friends is an adventure and it's fun and I don't take anything personally when it comes to the friend making process because my ego isn't in charge and all I can do is show up and with

love and enthusiasm convey my interest to spend time with people who seem interesting to me. That's it. But this woman that I was speaking to

she was having all these thoughts around it. I could tell it brought up a

lot of stuff about her, a family, what went on in her marriage to her

ex-husband, her anxiety.

There were so many thoughts about just asking someone who she met at a workout class to go for an iced coffee.

I was like, it's just coffee, it's not there deep.

And she was like, oh, but if she says no, and this and that, and she was like oh, but if she says no and this and that and she was attaching her worth
