Hello and welcome. My name is John August. My name is Drew Markworth and this is a script

note sidecast, a short episode about one thing. Today, I want to answer some of the questions

I've been getting on the picket line. And Drew, you get to play the composite version

of all those folks asking me questions. I'm excited. Great. This is why I went to

Action School. Now, I should say right up front that absolutely everything I'm going to

be saying today can be found in the emails that the WJ sends out to members. So there

are zero scoops in this episode. In fact, when people on the picket line ask me questions,

I'll often refer to the member emails. But of course, not everyone on the picket line

is a WJ member. We have SAG after members, a lot of pre-WJ writers out there as well. And

they have questions. They look at the emails. So sometimes it just feels good to also

hear something rather than to read it. So I thought we would do this today. Are you

ready to start with questions? I am. Now, let's paint the scene. So we're at Paramount

at the Bronson Gate where it's a little quieter. The crosswalk light has just changed.

And you notice I am wearing this red negotiating committee badge. You decide to ask a question.

Action. Hey, you guys went back into negotiations, right? That's right. I'm John, by the way.

I'm Randy. I'm a composite character. It is nice to meet you, Randy. So yes, on August

11th, we went back into the room with the AMPTP. That was the first time in over 100 days.

They made a proposal. We went back with a counter. We kept talking over the course of

that next week. What was that proposal from them? Like, I mean, was it any good? So in

the end, I'm glad I'm loving the character you're creating. So in the member email later

on, we said it was, quote, neither nothing nor nearly enough. And a lot of the deal points

in there were from the DGA deal from more than 80 days ago. But there was progress too.
