Hello and welcome. My name is John August. My name is Drew Markhort. And this is a script

notes podcast. A short episode about one thing. Today that one thing is the hot new picketing

schedule that dropped this afternoon. I guess it's literally hot because it's about heat.

It's temperature. It's temperature. For listeners who don't live in Los Angeles, Drew

and I should explain how the seasons work here because there's winter when it sometimes

rains and this year it rained a lot. Oh my god, so much rain. So much rain.

More rain. We'd also possibly deal with. There was flooding. It was just too much. And

then it stopped sometime around May. For May and June, we'd had just a little bit of rain,

nothing worth noting, which was great for picketing because no one wants to pick it in the rain.

You got that you picket sign, do you have that clear trash bag over it? It's just not a pleasant

experience. But not raining doesn't mean blue skies. That's that's it. That's the problem.

It's like in Los Angeles, we have these two months that are post rain, but before actual sunshine,

you rarely see the blue sky. So we have what's called the May Gray, the June gloom. For a while,

it's like we're in the Pacific Northwest. Temperatures are in the 60s or 70s. And most crucially,

the sun is hidden away behind thick clouds all morning and into the afternoon until it finally burns

off. It's ideal picketing weather. It really is. It was fantastic. I mean, you still need sunscreen.

I still wear my 50 sunblock. I'm still wearing my big dumb hat, but you're not going to get heat

stroked during the May Gray. No, I had to wear your husband might give me a gator because my

neck kept getting stuck. Absolutely. You've got to watch out for those boundary areas. But

until this week when it's been kind of sunny all day, then the heat stroke threat starts to come in.

It really does. So those blue skies return and it's just the curse. I should say about the blue
