Good afternoon, Onscript fans, or morning or evening, wherever you are.

I've just gotten back from the Society for Biblical Literature and the American Academy

0:10.1

of Religion's annual meeting in San Diego.

0:14.1

And I did some recording, just some hit-and-run interviews with scholars and friends to give

0:20.7

those of you who don't go to SBL or AAR or go to any

0:25.0

of these academic conferences to kind of give you a flavor of what people do, how they, how they

0:30.7

act, what they're interested in. One thing that you'll notice that comes up over and over again

0:35.8

is that a lot of people don't go to the paper

0:38.8

sessions. And so I'm not sure if I just caught everybody on an off year where a bunch of people

0:43.6

weren't going to the paper sessions or if that's a more general habit. But I know I'm making it

0:49.1

0:55.3

kind of maybe make my meetings secondary because I think my meetings have become a little bit

1:00.8

too onerous these last few annual meetings. But anyways, these are just a lot of people I

1:07.0

encountered either at receptions or in the book stalls just wandering around and I would stop

1:13.6

them and just ask them a few questions. So I hope you enjoy and you should hear some familiar voices in here as well. The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plane.

1:36.8

I'm here in the book hall with Mark Cortez, a theologian at the Whetton School of Theology looks like.

1:45.0

Oh, Wheaton.

1:47.0

Wheaton.

1:48.0

Yeah, there's an A in there.

1:49.0

Okay, yeah.

1:50.0

1:51.0
