You need to learn to celebrate the progress you've made

instead of being mad at yourself because you still have a ways to go.

Believe it or not, you can't change yourself. You can modify your behavior to a certain degree.

It won't always last long, but you can do it for short periods of time. However, true change has to come

from God because he has to change our heart. Once the heart changes, then you don't have any

trouble with behavior. And so the real key to change is studying the word in the area where you're having a problem.

It's really important that you treat the word of God like you would medicine.

You know, if you had a cough, you wouldn't take an aspirin,

you'd take cough medicine.

We know what to take for our physical body,

but it seems like spiritually we can be having a problem,

and we think if we just get in the word,

just any part of the word,

that it's gonna magically help us. And it's so important to understand

that the word has power in it to change us, but if you're impatient, doing a Bible study on

prosperity and success, it's not going to help you with patience.

You need to study patience. And it's really easy. You know, there's absolutely no reason for anybody not to study the word today because you have every kind of translation of the Bible you

can imagine. So if you don't understand one, get another one. You can get it on television, on many different stations.

You can get it by radio.

You can get online and get any preacher you want.
