Summary

If you feel like your grocery bill has been creeping up, you’re not crazy. Food prices have been rising for a while, and unlike other areas of your budget, groceries definitely fall solidly into the “need, not want” category. So how DO you spend less money on food when you’re feeding a family? In today’s episode, Meagan and Sarah get honest about the areas where our food spending starts to spiral out of control, as well as how we approach leftovers, generic products, pantry inventory, and family-favorite cheap-o dinners. We also share some smart tips from an actual budget expert (ahem, not us). Make sure you listen ’til the end to hear Meagan’s best tip! Join us.

tips and encouragement. And remind you that it's really all gonna be okay. We're

0:45.4

talked about little ways to save money room by room but we left out a very

0:49.6

important room and that is well we got to the kitchen and then we stopped. We're

0:53.2

0:56.8

like the place where maybe you don't spend the most money on any given item but

1:01.7

definitely the most consumables right like the most things are coming in and

1:05.3

going out and being literally digested by your family and so you have a lot of

1:09.1

control in that room. It like sensibly but it's hard to keep it under control.

1:15.5

Well that and in addition I would I'm thinking about the things we talked about

1:20.6

in the other rooms we talked about things like streaming services and decor and

1:24.4

clothes and kids toys and office supplies and not to be like super negative but

1:29.8

if a financial crisis happens to one of our families many of those things could

1:35.3

be slashed from the budget for as a stopgap while you know while a family got

1:39.6

back on their feet whereas the things that we consume in the kitchen of course
