Summary

On Monday May 11 at 4pm ET at the Gaslit Nation Salon, get ready for a big peek behind the curtain. To celebrate Andrea's birthday, we're starting that day's salon with a production of the first 15 pages or so of one of her antifa screenplays. It's based on a story longtime Gaslit Nation listeners may recognize. And we'll leave it there. To get your ticket and support the show, join our community of listeners at Patreon.com/Gaslit, get all episodes ad free, bonus shows, exclusive invites, and more. Thank you to everyone who supports the show!

Hello, everyone. Just a quick update for you. As long-time Gaslit Nation listeners know, I process my rage, my grief, everything that we are collectively going through together. I rely on art therapy. I write. My art is

0:23.9

writing. I would love my art to be collaging or sculpture or oil painting, but it is not that. It is

0:30.7

writing. And I need it. I need it for my sanity. I need it in order to do this show. So much of the

0:37.1

research that I do for my projects because I'm a huge history nerd. I need it in order to do this show. So much of the research that I do

0:38.3

for my projects because I'm a huge history nerd. I majored in a history at UC Davis. When I work

0:44.2

on my various projects, I dig into the research. I read the primary sources of the time. That

0:50.6

informs what I say on the show. This is, this is, so think of Gaslit Nation like an iceberg.

0:55.9

You hear the episodes, but there's a massive iceberg of research and long walks in the park thinking and all of the creative choices I'm making in putting myself in my time machine, going back in time, and living with these

1:11.2

historical heroes, she rose, and I love it so much. The thing I do not love is that many of my

1:20.5

projects that I just devote so much love to may never see the light of day because they're

1:26.9

screenplays. And screenplays require

1:28.9

millions of dollars and a lot of incredibly brilliant people seeing the vision, sharing the vision,

1:35.4

and saying yes. So it's a deep, I don't want to say frustration because I don't know how I do it. I don't

1:40.9

know how I fall in love with the script. I write it. I'm living inside the

1:45.3

film. It's just like a daydream or an intense, vivid dream. I'm lucid dream. Like I'm in the

1:51.4

movie. I'm absolutely in the movie. And then, you know, it's out of my hands. It's out of my hands

1:59.2

at a certain point. And you may never see it. You may never watch it. I don't know how I keep doing this. I don't know. You know, it's almost like, I don't know. I don't know why it doesn't break my heart. Like I just keep doing it. So maybe it's the process is so healing. And maybe because I put so much of the work itself into Gaslit Nation. So maybe it isn't

2:18.6

lost. Just my screenplays that are unproduced go into Gaslit Nation. And that's also why Gatslet

2:24.1

Nation is a creative force and also saves my sanity. So thank you so much for everyone who is a

2:29.4

part of the show, part of the community, listening, supporting all of it. Thank you, thank you. And so I decided,

2:36.4

you know, we're having a Gaslit Nation salon on a Monday that happens to fall on my birthday, May 11,

2:44.0

the birthday of lovable eccentrics like Salvador Dali. And I decided, you know, I'm going to
