I'm your host, retired NYPD Sergeant Bill Cannon, a 27-year veteran of the NYPD.

First and foremost, I want to wish everyone a happy New Year.

In fact, this is January 1st, 2024. We made it. We turned it over into the next year. And I

warned people the other day, careful with how much you drink on New Year's Eve. You don't want to

bring the New Year in with a headache or a hangover. You want to feel

good during the new year. I took my own advice for a change and I didn't have a single drink of

alcohol last night, although I had it the night before. So I'm not trying to act like I'm an angel,

but I took my own advice.

So this case is quite disturbing.

And this investigation started out heavy duty, a forensic investigation, a crime scene investigation, and it was mentioned early on was this perhaps a murder-suicide.

The couple had had some relationship problems.

In fact, Matthew had been arrested before for assaulting Savannah.

So this would have been something that wasn't so unusual.

And when they saw, the police initially saw what was called a close contact wound

on Matthew's head, that leads you to believe

potentially most suicides people put the gun up to their head.

And if they're right-handed, it's on the right side of their head.

Or they put it in their mouth.

And I hate to be so graphic.
