So a small correction to kick off the show this week.

Last week at the top of the show, I said no one knew the name of the guy who took home

the gold medal in pole vaulting at the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan.

But everyone knew the name, at least last week, of the French pole vultor Anthony Amarotti,

whose giant dick knocked the bar off the bar holding up thingies that pole vaulters

use those long poles to vault themselves over.

Forgive me for the technical sports jargon here.

I am obviously an expert on all things.

Sports.

Anyway, the same day, I pointed out that we all knew Amarotti's name.

It was on all of our lips.

No one could name the guy who actually won the 2020 gold medal in pole vaulting at the

Olympics right before this Olympics. My point wasn't purient. I mean, purians was definitely

a factor. We all saw the video. But my point, while purient adjacent wasn't entirely

purient, I was reflecting in last week's intro on fame in the age of social media

and how we suddenly woke up in a world where Olympic athletes who represent their nations at these

quadranial contests and wind up on cereal boxes and with endorsement deals and are expected to be

role models for kids. Olympic athletes suddenly have only fans accounts,

and yet are still being held up as role models for kids.
