So, the question of the weekend was,

was Hugh Grant fucking with us? Or what? Hugh Grant, British film star,

nine months since in Sensibility, I could go on Hugh Grant, who played the lovable shy,

bumbling, but hot English guy with floppy hair that women dream about, or are socialized to dream about,

with the occasional foray into playing the cad as granted in Bridget Jones' diary. Hugh Grant,

that Hugh Grant told an interviewer over the weekend that he's into SNM.

Hugh Grant said that into a microphone standing next to Chris Pine, who was beaming at him,

while they were on the red carpet together at Comic Con in San Diego,

where they were promoting a new movie they're both in called Dungeons and Dragons,

Honor Among Thieves. That movie is based on the popular role-playing game,

of course, Dungeons and Dragons. I mean, obviously, a game also known as D&D,

which is not to be confused with SNM, which one of Grant's other co-stars, Michele Rodriguez,

said Grant regularly confused D&D with SNM while they were making the film.

So, was Grant telling us the truth? Grant has a wicked sense of humor, as anyone who follows

him on Twitter knows, so he may have been joking. But joking doesn't mean he wasn't also telling the

truth. He could have been doing that thing, that thing people sometimes do, where they tell the truth

in the form of a joke. Someone admits to something publicly, maybe gets off on the admission,

but frames the admission as a joke, so they still have plausible deniability.

That is definitely a thing that kinky people have done. It's also a thing vanilla people do a lot.
