Hey everybody, I sound terrible because I feel terrible. I am sick.

You can probably tell from the sound of my voice. So I'm going to try to keep things short

here at the top because if you don't want to listen to me in this condition,

and thanks to the cold meds and sleepless nights and hacking and coughing,

things are going to be pretty scattered in this week's intro. First up, the white lotus.

This is only going to make sense to people who are watching the second season of Mike White's

Genius Anthology show, set it an upscale resort this time in Sicily. If you don't know what the

white lotus is, it's basically the world cup for people who don't care about sports,

and the world cup of course is sports for people who don't care about human rights.

Anyway, to the white lotus fans out there, Ethan loves Harper, but he doesn't want her.

But the minute Ethan thinks his old college friend Cameron, who Ethan has recently

lapsed professionally, but Ethan still holds onto some bitterness about having been

lapt by Cameron, romantically at frat parties a dozen years ago when they were still in college

together. The minute Ethan thinks Cameron might want to fuck his wife Harper,

or maybe did fuck his wife Harper, Ethan suddenly wants his wife again in the worst way.

But instead of recognizing that Cameron may have done it in a favor, Ethan is furious.

By contrast, Cameron and his wife, Daphne, they joke with each other about cheating on each

other. And both know it's not a joke, but both pretended is a joke, and something about this works

for them. If you regard a sexless relationship as not working by definition and one where the

couple still fox as working by definition, Cameron and Daphne are working. Ethan and Harper are not.

It's just one of the storylines on the amazing white lotus, and of course if you're gay and
