A few weeks ago, we let you know that on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, we thought it might be fun to do a family show.

And we invited you to call in with your questions about family drama, family dynamics, family conflicts before Thanksgiving, that

holiday when you have to sit at a big table with everybody that you're related to, in theory,

at least. And I have to say, the calls we got in were really depressing. And we handle them

in this show. We're going to answer your family questions, but it is a grind.

And it just made me reflect upon a basic truth of the advice racket.

Your sample is always hopelessly skewed, that you don't get mixed in with those questions about mom and dad and siblings and uncles

and family drama and Russian wives. You don't get questions about how wonderful everything is

because there's no problem when mom is loving and decent, when your cousin's wife isn't a

transphobic bitch, when your dad is only too happy to see the man

who sodomizes you across the dining room table on Thanksgiving. There's nothing to call

Dan Savage or Cheryl Strayed or Prudy or any of or any of the other advice racket mafia about

because everything's going fine.

So I have to say, after listening to this week's calls, I was just really, we were all here in the Savage Lovecast booth in the 23rd floor, the Washington Mutual building, overlooking beautiful Puget Sound.

We were all a little deflated.

So I just want to, before we play this show for you, I want to give a shout out to all the folks out there who are decent, kind, and loving siblings, parents, grandparents, friends, neighbors who didn't give anybody cause to call me this week and ask me questions about what assholes their siblings,

parents, grandparents, cousins, neighbors, friends are, you're not represented in this show.

You're not going to find awesome, loving, supportive family in this show, except on the periphery

of some of these calls where people refer to the family members they have who are decent, you're going to hear a lot about
